Renault Super 5 GT Turbo
The Renault 5 GT Turbo is one of the most sought-after youngtimers, presented in January 1985 as a replacement for the Renault 5 Alpine Turbo.
It is part of that series of doped machines, derived from utility cars but equipped with high-performance engines, which represent that forbidden dream of most young people of the 80s and today's enthusiasts of historic cars.
the Renault 5 GT Turbo is based on the body of the 3-door version of the small Régie presented in 1984, a choice dictated both by the greater rigidity of the body compared to the 5-door, and by a more sporty and youthful appearance.
The engine is the well-known 4-cylinder 1,397 cc, inherited from the previous R5 Alpine Turbo, powered by a Solex carburettor and Garret turbine, which develops a maximum power of 120 hp; the maximum speed is close to 200 km/h.
The GT Turbo has enabledAlain Oreille(Renault driver)to acquire his two titlesWorld Rally Championship(WRC) in 1989 and 1990.
The proposed specimen is one of the few models kept original and not restored;
it was registered in Avellino in August 1990. For the last 20 years the car has been stored in the garage and has only been used for short journeys.
